International Workshop on
Fast Neutron Detectors and Applications

       ・April 3-6, 2006
       ・University of Cape Town
       ・Dead line of Abstract; 28 October, 2005

The workshop has two main objectives. Firstly, it will aim at reviewing recent developments in the construction of neutron detectors for energies from the keV to the GeV range. This includes the improved understanding of basic processes in materials used for neutron detection as well as techniques and data relevant for modeling of neutron detectors. The second focus of the workshop will be on the applications of fast neutron detectors in various fields of science and technology. Both new emerging applications and novel techniques in established fields will be presented. In addition, methods and facilities for the production of fast neutrons will be discussed. The workshopwill provide a forum for the exchange of information between the various communities using fast neutrons to carry out their specific tasks. The proceedings of the workshop will be published in a peer-reviewed online journal.

Courses

A training course on unfolding methods in spectrometry (UTC 2006) and a MCNPX course will be organized in close connection to the workshop. Details and links can be found on the websites of these courses.

Proceedings

The proceedings of the workshop will be published in the internet journal Proceedings of Science, published by Sissa, the International School of Advanced Studies, Trieste, Italy. This journal is one of the recently launched successful internet journals such as JHEP and JCAP. The journal offers free access for everyone and all features associated with electronic publishing, including colour figures, animated movies and web links. The quality of the contributions will be assured by the strict application of a peer review process.
